Inhaltsangabe
Lost in the Barrens ist eine Abenteuergeschichte, die 1935 in nördlichen Manitoba und südwestlichen Nordwest-Territorien stattfindet. Es erzählt eine Coming-of-Age-Geschichte von zwei Jungen im späten Teenageralter, einer ein weißer Junge, der kürzlich seine Eltern verloren hat, der andere ein Cree-Junge aus einem in der Nähe lebenden Stamm. Die Jungen begeben sich auf eine Mission, um den Hunger eines Nachbardorfes zu lindern, das von den Chipewyan besetzt ist, aber aufgrund einer Reihe unglücklicher Ereignisse werden im Winter über der Baumgrenze in Kanadas nördlichen Barren Lands gefangen.
