The books are the result (a) of much educational experience in connection with a scheme Of commercial education on the one hand, and, on the other hand, (6) of eighteen years of practical experience in connection with several large shipping houses both at home and abroad. Every endeavour has been made throughout to present the matter in such a manner that its influence may be thoroughly educational, if regarded as a mental training of a specialist type.
