Excerpt from Report of the Operations of the Engineer Department of the District of Columbia: For the Year Ended June 30, 1927
The Anacostia pumping station has been operated without inter ruption during the year, pumping to the three towers supplying the area east Of the Anacostia River. This station is taken care of by four enginemen, who work on eight-hour shifts. The water pumped for this service during the year was gallons, or a mean of gallons daily.
