Excerpt from First Biennial Report of the Trustees, Superintendent and Treasurer of the Illinois Western Hospital for the Insane at Watertown: July 1, 1898
This report, covering but a few weeks of actual care of a small number of patients, can not present a favorable comparison in the matter of per capita cost with the reports of other institutions, and perhaps it would have been wise to have delayed our opening until J uly 1. However, we believe our expenses are no greater than those of any other hospital under similar circumstances.
