The campaign of General Miles against Geronimo, the Wily, able and treacher ous leader of these Indians, has provided the basis for this story. Many of the details have been related to me or given by those Who Were familiar With the campaign. The writer ao knowledges his indebtedness for this material, and is under special Obligation to General Miles, himself, for information he has kindly provided.
