Excerpt from Advance Report on the Sedimentation Survey of Barcroft Reservoir, Alexandria, Virginia: September 17, 1937-March 8, 1938
The survey revealed that 85 acre-feet cubic yards) of sediment had accumulated in the reservoir at an average rate of acre-feet per year, which is equivalent to about 17 cubic feet per acre of drainage area. The loss of original storage, however, has been only percent per year, or percent to the date of sur vey. These data indicate that storage loss through silting is not a serious problem.in this reservoir under existing conditions.
