Software reliability has been described as a metric which is the probability of operational success of the Because the measurement of software reliability is in principle the modelling of a deterministic process by a probabilistic one, the problem arises as to how to model the uncertainty of the ultimate outcome. When the random variable is chosen to be time, we refer to the implicit definition of reliability as time-dependent. When the random variable is otherwise defined, we will say the definition is time-independent.
