An encyclopaedic work encompassing all aspects of British freshwater fishing. The authors' passion for research, their love of angling, even their avowed interest in the culinary qualities of their catch, seem to me a healthier approach to the subject than that of many writers of today, whose over-emphasis on technical and conservation aspects seem to take much of the excitement and spontaneity of fishing. Part I covers fishes, Part II rigs, tackles and methods of capture, with some reference to American ideas. This is the first paperback edition.
