Il y a donc, dans la région du hile, deux ordres de saillies alternantes; les unes, rouges et conoïdes, sont formées par le sommet des pyramides de Malpighi on les nomme papilles du rein; les autres, jaunâtres et arrondies, sont formées par le prolongement des colonnes de Bertin; elles n'existent que sur les parties centrales du hile et disparaissent vers ses parties latérales, parce que les colonnes de Bertin y descendent moins bas.
