Excerpt from Materials Research for the Clean Utilization of Coal

Tests to experimentally verify the thermal-elastic stress ysis for the tension-loaded double-cantilever beam specimen were continued and modifications were made to the stress ysis to more accurately predict the change in stress-intensity with temperature. Tests to experimentally verify the stress ysis were conducted using specimens of both type 304 and type 310 stainless steel. The test fixture for loading double cantilever beam specimens was modified to permit testing to higher stress-intensity levels and to permit testing a wider range of specimen materials.
