On Trivet's return from Paris, he was ho nourably received by his brethren; but that he was elected prior of his convent at London, we have no earlier authority than that of the some what apocryphal Pitseus. We know, however, for certain, that he subsequently taught in the schools at Oxford, between which and his con vent at London was spent the remainder of his laborious and learned life, divided between de votion and the composition of many excellent works; which, if we except bis Annals,' are little known, and oi'which it is almost impossible now to ascertain either the exact date or the place of composition.
