Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. Marjorie FitzGibbon (illustrator). 1st Edition. "An old-fashioned tale of magic and adventure and a beloved teddy bear". FitzGibbon was the author of quite a few books: novels (notably "When the Kissing Had To Stop" [1960]), histories, poetry, biographies, etc. This children's story was written for the daughter of his marriage to the retired American actress, Marjorie Steele. The daughter was Oonagh and the main character in the book is Oona. Marjorie, who died in early 2018, was an accomplished artist and sculptor and contributes some little line drawings to this book. A Doubleday Reinforced Library Edition, this copy was a school library book. The book itself is marked only with rubber stamps to front and rear endpapers, and a couple of pages. Otherwise a very near fine copy. The dust jacket has been covered with sticky-backed plastic but bears no other library signs apart from the publisher's "Library Edition" sticker to the spine.
