Rezensionen

PreSchool-Grade 3-- Aruego's oversized, whimsical animals that literally leap across each bordered page are the stars of this anthology. Dewey has colored them with bright watercolors and gouache shades that are sure to catch and hold the eyes of young readers or listeners. Old standby poems by Rose Fyleman, Aileen Fisher, Eleanor Farjeon, and Rachel Field are included, as are some of the wild and wacky verses of Jack Prelutsky and Shel Silverstein. Original selections by Goldstein round out the collection. If a birthday read-aloud is what you are after, these illustrations can't be beat and the verses are sure to be enjoyed. --Dot Minzer, North Barrington School, Barrington, IL
