The Dust Jacket is bright, colors uniform throughout, and would be intact but for one hard to see tear to the back panel that is closed from behind with archival, pH neutral materials, with wear to the head of the spine. A science fiction novel, or, as the author puts it, "space fiction" set in the far distant future. The story presents a history, for future students, of the planet Shikasta (called Earth by its inhabitants) under the influence of three galactic empires, Canopus, Sirius, and their mutual enemy, Puttiora, presented as a series of reports from emissaries detailing the Century of Destruction and the Apocalypse (i.e. World War III). Mystic Sufi influences are present. The word Shikasta comes from Persian language, meaning "broken".
