First trade printing of this softcover original "underground bestseller" . 184 pp. Illustrations by Bill Brauer and calligraphy by Al Chung-liang Huang. A well preserved example, minor evidence of wear to the egdes, scuff to the head of spine extending a bit onto front cover apparently from an old price sticker. A now classic work that combines sports pshychology and Zen Buddhism; a "centered skier" is a ".human in touch with the energies of the universe and whose skiing is a joyous expression of that connection.".McCluggage's book became the foundation of approaches taken by advanced ski schools and made the reading list of the Professional Ski Instructors of America. First published in the 1970s, "The Centered Skier" had a resurgence in the 1990s when parabolic skis were invented which allowed for carved turns rather than the traditional skidding turns.
