He is the principal author of the highly acclaimed Overseas Chinese Business Networks in Asia published by the Australian Government, the author of numerous articles for journals and newspapers around the world and a regular contributor to the Asian Wall Street Journal. He is a frequent speaker at international seminars and conferences and a regular commentator in the media on Asian business matters. Mr Backman was trained as an economist, has lived and worked in Jakarta, Indonesia, and travels widely throughout Asia.
