Continuum mechanics, plasticity and stability theory are covered in greater depth as it explores the research on non-linear finite elements. To supplement the text a set of programmes are available on the Internet via anonymous FTP.

Examples from a non-linear finite element computer program incorporating the advanced solution procedures are included.
