On the subject of location, there was not the same degree of unanim ity. Some were in favor of selecting a portion of the vacant territory of the United States, and setting it apart for the purpose; others, were for making arrangements with the government of Mexico, and sending theclass in question to Texas; still, others advocated a settlement on the western coast of Africa, the climate being better suited to the great majority of the colored people of this country. The last plan was finally adopted.
