The arrangements Of the Dwelling as conducive to health, convenience, and comfort, are mainly kept in view, whilst the few explanatory Illustrations are Plans, affording rules for general guidance, rather than Pictures of models for imitation.

The scheme of the book was suggested by Mr. Murray, whose notes and practical hints have been Of great value. The form and general idea are entirely his, and as these exactly coincided with my own thoughts, writing the following pages has been a pleasant task.
