Colin M. MacLachlan is Professor of History at Tulane University. He is the author of Spain's Empire in the New World (California 1988), and co-author with Jaime E. Rodriguez O. of The Forging of the Cosmic Race (California 1980; expanded edition 1990), which won the Hubert Herring Memorial Award. John Mason Hart, author of Revolutionary Mexico (California, paperback 1989), is Professor of History at the University of Houston.
