In the Optical Lectures, he presents his most comprehensively developed mathematical and experimental account of color and refraction. This edition publishes, for the first time, the complete text, along with a translation and commentary, of both surviving versions of the lectures: an initial draft and a vastly expanded revision. These lectures were derived from Newton's early experimentation with prisms in the "miracle year" of 1665/66 at Woolsthorpe - the most productive year of Newton's legendary career. Those early findings were first revealed to the world in his "Theory About Light and Colours" whose first appearance was in Vol.VI of the" Philosophical Transactions" for 1671/72, Newton's first scientific publication (See my offering on this site).
