Michelin-trained internet sensation Poppy O’Toole created her social media profile, Poppy Cooks, after losing her kitchen job during the pandemic. Known for creating easy-to-follow recipe tutorials, Poppy currently has over 4M followers on TikTok.

Following almost a decade in professional kitchens, Poppy launched her debut cookbook The Food You Need in 2021, which received praise from the likes of Nigella Lawson, Rukmini Iyer and the Daily Mail, who called her the “millennials answer to Delia Smith”. Poppy has been featured across British media like The Times ("The poster girl for TikTok cooks"), The Telegraph ("A first class enabler"), Daily Mail, Observer and Guardian ("one of the ascendant stars of TikTok"). She's appeared on Saturday Kitchen and is the co-host of BBC Three's Young MasterChef.

The book that dreams were made of. For all the carb-lovers, potato enthusiasts and spud connoisseurs. This is my all-potato recipe book.     That’s right, every single recipe is a spud. Pages on pages of just pure potato. Is this the very reason I was put on this earth? To deliver to you this book of potato bliss? If so, it was a worthwhile life.
    I’ve dreamt of this book for years. Potatoes on potatoes, on potatoes, with a side of potatoes. Every page you turn is just more delicious potato dishes to dig into. Cook your way through it, enjoy every moment, and appreciate thehumble spud even more than before.
    The question I get asked more than any is,“When are you making a potato book?” and, well, the answer is, now. It took a bit longer because I wanted to make thisone special. I knew the Potato Queen couldn’t let you down,so a lot of blood, sweat and butter went into these pages.
    But if you are new here, you might think, what started your love of potatoes?
    This is another question that I get asked a lot. Well, I often feel like I resonate a lot with a potato. I’m round. I’m friendly. I’m versatile. I like to be covered in butter. All the usual things.
    For me, though, it’s the accessibility of the potato that I love so much. It’s cheap, it’s easy, and everyone can get their hands on it. It means every family can make a potato special in their own home, relatively easily and without too much hassle.

It turns out, if you post anything other than potatoes after amassing 1 million followers from them, you get quite a lot of comments asking, “Where are the potatoes?” So, I embraced it, and went FULL POTATO in all my content. I’m talking series after series loaded with spuds, from “Around the World in 80 Potatoes” and “A–Z of Potatoes”, through my annual “12 Days of Christmas Potatoes” to “Cooking Potatoes Every Single Day until I Physically Implode”. I obviously love a short, snappy title.
    That’s a lot of potatoes. Over 1 billion views-worth of potato videos, actually. Which sounds absolutely mind-blowing. Especially as I remember being that unemployed trying-to-be-cool older sister showing off my 10k video views at one point. I am absolutely blown away by everything I’ve achieved in the last four years and I can confidently say it was because of potatoes. Over five million followers on my channels, bestselling cookbooks, becoming a regular chef on some of my favorite UK TV shows and appearing as a judge and experton different cooking competitions, too. Actually, North American Networks, where is my call?!
