Inhaltsangabe

When the head of Hudsucker Industries jumps forty-four floors to his death, the Board of Directors devises a devilish scheme to keep control of the company. They appoint as the new President someone who will inspire panic in the stockholders - a puppet, a pawn, a proxy they can push around. The choice falls on the new boy in the mail room, Norville Barnes. But as the plot develops, Norville's presidency becomes an unexpected success, leaving the Board of Directors to plot their revenge.

Using the work of Preston Sturges as their model, the Coen Brothers created a sharp and funny satire on American capitalism. The Hudsucker Proxy is a brilliant post-modern piece, whose unique wit and verbal dexterity make the screenplay a joy to read. Also included in this volume is an interview producer Joel Silver who gives a candid account of the making of the movie.
