Inhaltsangabe

What if a garbage collector found out about a murder that wasn’t a murder?

Dora Ellison’s not a cop. She doesn't need to be when the need for revenge is burning hot, the secrets are deep, and she's never going to back down.

When Dora’s police officer partner uncovers evidence of a decades-old murder cover-up, Dora is staring down a conspiracy that winds from city hall to the gutters she cleans.

Then the nightmare gets personal. When tragedy strikes, Dora’s pain ignites into fury—and nothing can stop her from tearing through the lies, the power, and the men who think they’re untouchable.

She hauls trash for a living. Shaped by childhood trauma and carrying a rage she’s fought to bury, Dora has stayed in the shadows. But now, to get justice, she must step into the darkness and become the kind of avenger the city fears.

Not Today is an unflinching, propulsive mystery featuring a fierce Jewish woman sleuth, for readers who crave grit, high stakes, and a heroine who won’t quit—ever.

The Dora Ellison Mystery Series is grounded in contemporary America—where political tension, institutional failure, and personal trauma collide.

Drawing inspiration from today’s headlines, these character-driven mysteries explore abuse of power, moral compromise, and the quiet violence that often hides behind respectability. While the stories reflect real-world social and political pressures, they are not written to take sides. Instead, they present multiple perspectives with care, allowing readers to sit with the discomfort and complexity of modern justice.

At the center of the series is Dora Ellison, a woman shaped by past trauma and an unyielding sense of right and wrong. Her pursuit of justice is personal, relentless, and often costly—raising questions about how far one should go when the systems meant to protect people no longer work.

These are thoughtful, emotionally rich mysteries for readers who want relevance without preaching, tension without slogans, and stories that respect their intelligence.
