Or that date and coconut energy bites and breakfast burritos with cheesy refried beans are make-ahead wonders that can streamline mealtimes on busy weeks? If you want to share moments of creativity and cooperation at home, this fun family cookbook offers tips, stories, and recipes to bring everyone together in the kitchen.

Rebel Girls Family Favorites guides you through more than 75 recipes, from Muffin Tin Pizza Bites and Raspberry French Toast Breakfast Casserole to Ground Pork Tacos with Pineapple Salsa and Kale and Gruyere Cheesy Rice Bake—with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, too. These recipes are easy, approachable and designed to make cooking for or with your family as seamless as possible. Alongside recipes are tips for creating a richer learning experience, including recipe variations, family bonding questions to chat about while cooking and eating together, and notes on which steps kids can tackle fully on their own. Throughout, advice, stories, and recipes from celebrated women chefs like Carla Hall (Peanut Butter Cornbread Muffins with Crunchy Crumble), Melissa Clark (Lemony Glazed Banana Loaf Cake with White Chocolate), and Catherine McCord (Buttermilk-Brined and Roasted Whole Chicken) will empower Rebel Girls everywhere to try new techniques and find confidence in trying something together. Rebel Girls Family Favorites also includes a list of recipes to make when you need meals on-the-go, when you need a rainy-day project, and more.

With a mixture of approachable, family-tested recipes, helpful step-by-step photography, and informative takeaways, Rebel Girls Family Favorites will help you get meals on the table easily while also giving you the chance to create new memories together in and out of the kitchen.

Hi, Rebels!

Sitting down with your family, laughing and chatting and enjoying a meal together—is there anything better? And yet, one of the sneakiest challenges of busy, modern life is deciding what to eat and what to feed your family every. single. day. Rebel Girls is here to help!

To create this cookbook, we reached out to hundreds of Rebel families and some beloved professional chefs to help us discover what dishes families are loving and what kinds of food they want to cook and eat more of. Then we worked with a team of recipe developers and cookbook editors to create more than 75 recipes and give you and your family some fresh, flavorful new additions to your kitchen routine. Next we gathered a group of curious kids and parents with varying levels of cooking experience to test the recipes and make them even better. You’ll spot some of their comments throughout the book. We also noted which tasks are simplest for new helpers in the kitchen.

In this book, you will find a wide variety of dishes, including make-ahead breakfasts, lunches that travel well, quick-prep dinners, and chocolaty and fruity desserts. You will find snacks that are perfect for movie nights and afterschool chats—and the occasional family project. Sprinkled throughout the book are fun facts about women and food and celebrations of female chefs and their culinary creations.

You’ll also meet some of the Rebels currently rocking the culinary world. In these pages, seven talented chefs share stories, advice, and family favorite recipes—with you. Carla Hall’s Peanut Butter Cornbread Muffins with a Crunchy Crumble are a riff on her granny’s cornbread, and Rie McClenny’s take on a Tamago Sando hearkens back to the classic Japanese egg salad sandwich her mother made her when she was a child. You and your family can enjoy the crowd-pleasing simplicity of Catherine McCord’s Buttermilk-Brined and Roasted Whole Chicken and delight in Jessie Sheehan’s quick, easy-to-prepare, and thoroughly delectable Raspberry Cobbler with Cornmeal Drop Biscuits.

And since we know not everyone likes the exact same flavors, we’ve included variations for some recipes and featured some customizable dishes. For example there are recipes for four different ways to serve up a cold noodle salad. Pages 21 and 22 include advice for what to cook for different moods and scenarios (Need a dish quick? Sick of doing dishes?). If you are looking to liven up your table talk, check out the conversation starters on pages 24 and 25.

We’re incredibly excited to share these recipes with you. Whether you are cooking for your family or with your family, you are sure to find some new favorites. So grab a whisk, throw on your apron, and let’s get cooking!
