Phillip E. Carpenter was born on a large ranch in Wyoming and brings his love of nature and animals into his work, along with a strong sense of irony and humor developed over the years as a police officer, a private detective/bounty hunter, and award-winning journalist. He writes mostly for the fun of it, and it shows. Previous books include Iron Fist, Blood and Water, Pacifica Grid and Merchant Vigilantes. He is currently working on a sequel to Elephant Gun, entitled: Arabian Assignment.
