She came to that position after many years of being a student herself and after numerous years of writing, mostly for newspapers in the Cleveland, Ohio area but sometimes just to write. The stories come from her observations on the world more than from any time spent in the classroom.

Harriet Tramer is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Geography, Planning, and Sustainability at University of Albany, SUNY. She holds master's degrees in urban studies (with a specialization in economic development) and communication theory and methods from Cleveland State University, as well as a bachelor's degree in political science from Chatham College.
