Inhaltsangabe

Skepticism about the existence of God continues to climb in the twenty-first century. Even those with religious backgrounds are being swayed by the current trend of agnosticism and atheism. Why the shift? Author Laila M. Ibrahim Sabet believes the advances in technology and the wonders of scientific achievements contribute to this phenomenon. The Search for God: An Islamic Perspective of Science and Faith delves into the often-parallel worlds of science and religion. Through a combination of logic, analogy, science, and faith, Sabet addresses the question of God's existence. As a Muslim who has thoroughly read the Qur'ân, Sabet's perspective is uniquely Islamic and Qur'ânic. Through her research, Sabet has discerned that the schism between science and religion does not exist. In fact, scientific discoveries document what has appeared in the scriptures, and religion gives us the incentive to explore and discover the wonders of the world. Sabet focuses on several topics, including the nature of the soul and the essence of God, the philosophical reasons behind the existence of natural disasters, and the question of life after death. The Search for God creates an informed dialogue between science and religion, offering a new look at a centuries-old debate.
