"This is a 'growth sport', and the anglers would not be human if they did not occasionally resent the flow of newcomers to their favourite waters. But fly-fishing is under attack, not only by those who would, if they could, ban all field sports, but by the developers, the drainage experts, the river-polluters, the old car- and washing-machine depositers, by all the protagonists of our effluent society. .Fly-fishing has changed through the centuries far less than hunting or shooting.
