Inhaltsangabe

Side Effects: The Screenplay offers a lighthearted but earnest look at the pharmaceutical industry from the point of view of Karly, a drug sales rep growing more and more conflicted about her role in health care. With free lunches, promotional freebies, ego-stroking, and other questionable sales tactics on parade, the story is at turns hilarious, troubling, and downright disturbing. As Karly climbs the corporate ladder, she manages to keep her conscience at bay until a shocking revelation finally gives her the courage to stand up and do the right thing.

Also included in Side Effects: The Screenplay is the transcript of "Money Talks: Profits Before Patient Safety," a documentary featuring eye-opening commentary on pharmaceutical industry sales tactics from respected experts in the medical field. Topics for Further Discussion, presented in a point/counterpoint format, and a Resource Guide round out the material, making Side Effects: The Screenplay an ideal choice for classrooms and book clubs.

The Side Effects educational package is currently being used as a learning tool for medical students and in business ethics classes. But with its highly accessible format, Side Effects: The Screenplay is recommended reading for anyone concerned about the condition of American health care.
