Hello everyone, I am so excited about this journey of healing that I am embarking on with my first novel. I feel that its important to give something back when you have been blessed with so much. A little bit about me: I love fried sliced turkey sandwiches with mustard, and American cheese. Sometimes I add lettuce and tomatoes. Me and my husband decided to add bacon and it made my favorite sandwich even better. You gotta put Lays Potato Chips on the sandwich to give it a crunch. I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and grandmother(She still vibrant and beautiful- don't get it twisted). I am also an educator, and a student. Mostly, I am happy. This is important because I never really felt happiness before, not from deep inside, but I do today. I recently received my Master's Degree in Community Psychology and am a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor, currently working as the lead substance abuse counselor in Indiana at a women's prison. I'm not sure what one thing inspired me to write this book, I believe it was a multitude of things. I believe that art imitates life and I have had my share of experiences just like the women in the book. The first character that came to me was Brenda and then Mrs. Hopkins. Like them, most of us have been traumatized by some current or past event and as a result there is a scar, and I am not referring to the visible scars. But what I like most about my scars are that they are reminders of what I've been through and what I have overcome.
