C.L.R. James was born in Trinidad in 1901, lived for amny years in the United States, and died in Brixton, London in 1989. Author of such classic works as The Black Jacobins and Minty Alley, his revolutionary vision inspired social movements around the world. Also published be Blackwell is The C. L. R. James Reader, a collection of his most essential writings.
