Whilst dealing with this topic, I might mention, that, in no case, have I procured any assistance from the Clerks to the Companies con cerned. I have felt that such would little forward my intent. If their records concurred with mine, they could only corroborate; if they dis agreed they would not refute. Certainly, I could not reasonably ask them to furnish me with notes Moreover, in some cases, their records do not extend back to 1651. In regard to such Companies, the list is, of course, of special worth.
