In the work Which has been done by these investigators it has been assumed that the positions of the reflection maxima and the absorption maxima coincide, and dispersion formulae have been used in order to predict the positions of the reflection maxima. This assumption is not entirely justifiable, and the agreement between the calculated and the observed values for the very long waves is not sufficiently conclusive; has of the ebjeets of this re seareh was te accumulate facts Which might possibly thro' some light upen the problem. The data, haverer, in re gard to the dispersion of substances available for expor imsht are too limited to snable one to drew any conclu sions. It is hoped, nevertheless, that the few facts here added may at some time prove useful in the solution of the problem.
