Inhaltsangabe

Charlotte, Branwell, Anne, Emily and their father Patrick were avid letter writers all their lives. This is a marvellous collection of their letters from childhood to their deaths and covers correspondence and diary entries to each other and their wide circle of friends. The letters give a unique insight into the characters of this remarkable family, encompassing the whole range of emotions and effectively dispelling the myth that all was doom and gloom in the Bronte household. This collection is superior to other Bronte selections in that it includes letters from every member of the Bronte family, together with quotations from supporting primary sources, such as relevant Bronte diary papers and first hand accounts in local newspapers.
