Two Father's Day offerings approach the subject of fatherhood from slightly different angles. Dear Dad is a compilation of letters, solicited by the editor, from famous people to their fathers. Some were dug out of family archives, and some were written expressly for the book. What emerges is a touching tribute to the ways in which these fathers influenced their famous offspring. Fathers is a collection of poetry, prose, and drawings by and about fathers, from both the personal and the abstract view. More sophisticated than Dear Dad, this will appeal to a more intellectual audience. Either or both would be a good addition to most public library collections.
