Our Readers Step Up to the Bar and Share the Blame! Like drinking, writing alone can be a lonely and sometimes dangerous thing. With the eventual publication of the first two books in this series, I was intoxicated by success, and realized I should be willing to share the platform with others who seemed to want to try their hand at this new-found art form of finding humor in tragedy, or potential tragedy. Or more often in just plain foolishness. Over and again I had folks sending me unsolicited suggestions for my next book (the most common suggestion being not to write one... but I persevered). It became pretty obvious to me that I had stumbled onto something big--an appropriate metaphor given the subject matter. Just how to include everyone in the opportunity to be a part of the world-wide fame that can accompany being included as a contributor to a yet to be written potential Number One Best Seller presented a bit of a challenge. The only fair way to invite all aspiring writers was to create a contest. And so the "You Might Be a Problem Drinker If... Writer's Contest" was born. And the rest is history.

Biografía del autor:

A physician who practices Internal Medicine and Geriatrics in Peachtree City, Georgia, David has written a number of scientific articles for medical journals and books. He has also published essays with medical themes in JAMA and other medical publications. His first full-length book was the result of some foolishness he had toyed with one day. As a physician he realized that the diagnosis of alcohol abuse was sometimes not all that complicated or difficult, as long as the doctor knew the right question to ask or the right sign to look for. Before long, he had a list of over one hundred such items. Not knowing just what to do with this insight, he compiled the book "You Might Be a Problem Drinker If..". and presented it to his wife, Kenya, for her birthday because he loves to make her laugh. She did not protest too much and the price was right, so in subsequent years he expanded his birthday writings to a sequel, "You Might Be a Problem Drinker If... Let's Have Another Round!" He then wrote musings on his geriatric patients, "Octogenarians Say the Darndest Things!" (written in collaboration with his mother, Rebekah Yates Anders, also a physician). More recently he has written a full length novel, "20/80, A Love Letter... Sort Of", a romantic comedy telling the story of David Patson, a 20-year-old Pre-Med student at the University of Georgia who awakens carefree on his 20th birthday, May 25, 1977, then meets three uninvited strangers who crash his party and take him on what can only be described as the journey of a lifetime. Not willing to keep all the fun to himself, he then sponsored a contest to help write the third book in the "You Might Be a Problem Drinker If..."series.
