Pastor Harold Arrington was the Founder and Pastor of Bethel Gospel Tabernacle Church in Harvey, Illinois where he served for 56 years. He was born in 1934 during the Great Depression. Pastor Arrington was married to his lovely bride Barbara for 60 years. They have nine children, three daughters and six sons, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren. Although Pastor Arrington went on to be with the Lord, his ministry is being carried out by his two sons, John Arrington (Church Lead Pastor) and Paul Arrington (Outreach Ministries Lead Pastor). Pastor Arrington was a hard working husband and father for his family. His greatest desire was to see all his family and loved ones enter into the kingdom of heaven. He received a myriad of awards from organizations recognizing him as a pioneer for preaching on TV. His core vision of reaching the broken, hurting, the hungry and the lost is the reason there are many Christian programs on television across the country today. He was the first to have a Christian preaching program on television in the Chicagoland area. During the 1970s and 1980s, he produced, directed and hosted the live television show, Impact on WCIU-Channel 26. Impact was the first of its kind in the state of Illinois at that time to feature Christian television designed specifically for preaching the Word of God. The only other shows known nationally were the Oral Roberts and Billy Graham Crusades, however, Pastor Arrington helped pave the way for preaching on cable and network TV as we know it today. There are countless cable TV programs that cater to Christians. Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), The Word Network, and Daystar are a few that are piped into millions of homes every day all because of Spirit-filled pioneers like Pastor Arrington who helped pave the way for the preaching of the Word of God on cable and network TV. Impact included testimonies of men and women who had been saved from all manner of sin through the blood of Jesus. It also included the singing of musical groups and choirs. Today this programming is the norm on television. We praise God for the vision and foresight of Pastor Arrington.
