Remarkable Rosa is an activity workbook in the Heritage Series from Prideful Kids. The workbook utilizes the story of Rosa Parks to teach pre-k through elementary aged children, core curriculum: reading, writing, language arts, math, history, and geography. This activity workbook teaches Black History in a way that reinforces anti-racist culture in your home or classroom. Black children, bi-racial children, and children of all of races have enjoyed these activity workbooks during Black History Month and all year long. This fun and interactive activity workbook teaches young children about the Civil Rights Movement, segregation, and racism from a place where children can understand. Parents are not intimidated or afraid of the content when teaching Black History to their young kids. It opens the doors to discuss Black History in an empowering way. It also gives parents a break as children work through the activities without assistance.

Dr. Candice Dawson received her Doctorate degree in Philosophy in Policy Studies in Urban Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago in December 2012. Dr. Dawson’s passion for education coupled with her experiences as a minority student led her to her dissertation topic of “A Mirror Image: African American Student Reflections” (https://dspace-prod-lib.cc.uic.edu/handle/10027/9744). She accompanies this degree with an Educational Masters in Educational Policy Studies and a Bachelors in Media Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Having obtained higher level degrees and been employed in the education sector as an admissions and academic advisor, Dr. Dawson has encountered various situations where there is a break down between the educational institution, student and parent. In her spare time, Dr. Dawson loves giving to other moms through The Mommy Giving Circle. She spends time as a professional kisser of ouches and homeschool teacher to the Prideful Kids, her 2 young children. She’s the Assistant Coach to the Batmen Baseball Team of Plano and all she knows is to hit the ball and RUN. Mainly she just tries to keep the boys from playing in the dirt in the outfield. She’s officially a dance mom and QUEEN of all Gap online shopping for kids. She will be the first to admit the way to her heart is Chinese food or some great crawfish and a plane ticket in hand.
