'Being a medical student, you can only have a few weeks to study Psychiatry ... Puri's Pocket Essential of Psychiatry is probably the best for the beginner. The text is well structured, and diagnostic criteria for some improtant diseases, such as schizophrenia and BAD, are provided, while for some less important diseases the text is core and concise. The size is suitable for you to bring to the ward for grand rounds; when the professor is looking at the case notes, you can revise what you learn using this pocket-sized book. It makes your life easier during the Psychiatry module.'
