The second half of the book is divided into sections, each written by a prominent crafts person, expounding on how they have developed and used their own visual language. These craftspeople are: Alison Kinnaird (glass engraver), Jack Cunningham (jeweller), John Creed (metalworker), Graham Stewart (silversmith) and Anna King (weaver).

David Cohen taught at Edinburgh College of Art for many years and then set up the Ceramics department at the Glasgow School of Art. His work is exhibited all over the world and he a is frequent lecturer both in the UK and north America.
