The encyclopaedia is based on the original Dutch publication. This second volume gives wide coverage to the Psittaciformes (Parrot family) and all the known species have been dealt with in sufficient detail to make identification possible. All recognised subspecies have been listed. Many of the most popular species of parrots originate in Australia and Mr J Forshaw has contributed all the material on these.
