Roland Allen is internationally renowned for his controversial solutions to dilemmas within churches and missions. Roland Allen trained for the ministry at Oxford and became a priest in 1893. Allen's two periods in China, working for the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel, prompted him to radically re-assess the theology and missionary methods of the Western churches.
