Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. 125pp, price clipped, no inscriptions, illustrated. Slight rubbing to wrapper but no creasing, or fading, one tiny tear to top front edge, has been internally reinforced with special non acidic archive tape, now in removable clear protective sleeve. Very nice condition internally with no marks or turned over page corners, just a tiny amount of spotting to top and bottom edges of text block and very light marking to end papers. Brown boards, spine titled in silver-gilt. Corner of front end-paper clipped o/w very good copy in price-clipped dust-wrapper. Peter Stone's classic book of angling reminiscences of time spent by river, lake and sea. Lots of good specimen angling instruction is thrown in for good measure. "The chapter on barbel - in particular the section on how he and his friends catch them by design, at night, in winter - is an important contribution to the book, for what he has to say has probably never been told in book form before. He also tells of the difficulties involved with a television camera watching; of days spent bream fishing with bags in excess of 100lb. ; a record catch of over 250lb. of tench by him and two friends; of days spent breaking the ice during the 1963 freeze-up and of Richard Walker who caught roach and dace 'to order' whilst singing opera. But despite his success, the author still believes fishing is fun and no-one who reads this book will fail to agree. And in the process, they will learn much too."
