Can the ?special relationship? take the strain?Autumn 1942, and Churchill suggests to FDR that they send an all-American convoy to Russia to support the hard-pressed Soviet Union, instead of invading France. Despite having already been betrayed to the Germans, the plan goes ahead. It all ends in disaster with only a handful of the fleet reaching Murmansk, and the US determined that they will run future military ops.
