I've known Marynell Lund for several years and have always admired her for certain qualities that she carries in her everyday living of life and family matters. But I am totally blown away that she could write such an excellent book about her childhood in which she pulls no punches and gets it all out there for the world to see.

I know Marynell didn't write this book to gain sympathy because she doesn't want or need sympathy. She wrote the book to inform and perhaps help all those children and adults who have experienced similar situations but are too afraid to unlock the memories from within their hearts. Some people will live with the bitterness of these ugly happenings forever which is a sad thing because it is a disease that slowly eats away at one's very soul. It has been said that the only thing we take with us when we leave this world is our memories and how sad if all our memories are the ugliness of ugly people.

People may ask why she didn't walk away. From experience, I can explain that very easily. When you live with an abusive parent or spouse, they beat you down so far that you are no longer a person in your own right. You are just an object. You have no thought processes of your own and more or less become a robot. One day slips into the next and nothing changes. Until one day, some little thing is said or someone steps in and snaps you out of it. It is the fear of the unknown. Once you reach this point, you start your journey back up into the sunlight. If you are a strong person such as Marynell, you can then move forward. The book is to help those who are weak to hopefully reach a strong point where they can disengage themselves from abuse.

Marynell, in my opinion, has unlocked the door to her heart and brought out unpleasant things that we as a society have been taught to ignore and push under the carpet. I give her 10 stars for letting the world inside her life, and to show them that they can pull out of the mire, make something of themselves and go forward with a whole new outlook. Marynell Lund was born in 1951 and grew up in a home of abuse and mental illness. Marynell weaved a childhood out of a life filled with mental illness, drug addiction, incest, and abuse.

Marynell is an Army Veteran. She obtained a B.A. in Sociology which opened her world up to coming full circle with her life. She has given many speaking engagements on the topic of abuse, alcoholism, and incest. She is a self accomplished expert in the field of abuse. Marynell has gone from that of victim and turned it into being victorious.
