With an introduction by Derek Tangye. In the midst of the Battle of Monte Cassino a big brown bear helped soldiers to unload ammunition. The bear was called Voytek and his owners were Polish soldiers. Voytek was famous throughout the Army as mascot, friend and constant source of entertainment - and chaos. At the end of the War he and his owners came to Scotland. There, in the lowlands, Voytek's final escapades took place - including his pursuit of a German POW up a tree!
