Between the country and the city, transitional economies on the rural-urban fringe exhibit a unique and understudied relationship to race. Daniel J. Keyes is associate professor of English and cultural studies at the University of British Columbia. Luis L. M. Aguiar is associate professor of sociology at the University of British Columbia and coeditor of Researching amongst the Elites: Challenges and Opportunities in Studying Up.
