Although many conservative scholars have had reservations about biblical criticism since its rise a century ago, Carl Armerding contends that critical rationalism need not be antithetical to belief in a divinely inspired Word of God. Armerding is the former president and professor of Old Testament at Regent College, Vancouver, BC, Canada. He is currently academic mentor in Old Testament studies to students associated with the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies in Oxford, England and Academic Director of Schloss Mittersill Study Centre in Austria. He is the author of The Old Testament and Criticism (Eerdmans).
