Originally published in 1930, "Plenty-coups: Chief of the Crows" is recognized as a classic account of the Plains Indian's vanished way of life. The great chief speaks eloquently of the highlights of his own life: his medicine dream, his late marriage, the death of General Custer. But, significantly, he refuses to speak of the time after the passing of the buffalo. "Linderman scores a major triumph in translating these vivid recollections into a genuine record of Indian life," wrote the reviewer for Arizona and the West. Frank B. Linderman is the author of "Pretty-shield: Medicine Woman of the Crows", available as a Bison Book.
